Access Panels
Access panels give quick, clean access to the plumbing, electrical and ventilation services hidden behind your walls and ceilings — so engineers and maintenance teams can inspect pipework, valves and cabling without cutting into a finished surface.
Jupiter Blue holds one of the UK's largest ranges: standard and fire-rated panels in steel and plastic, picture-frame and beaded, sized to suit almost any wall or ceiling opening. Most are in stock for next-working-day delivery, and anything outside this we manufacture made-to-measure.

What is an access panel?
An access panel is a framed door — usually steel or plastic, with a secure latch or lock — fitted into a wall or ceiling to give quick, tidy access to the services hidden behind it: pipework, valves, cabling, ductwork and flues. It means those services can be inspected or maintained without cutting into a finished surface and making good afterwards. You'll also see them called access hatches or inspection doors.
Fire-rated or non-fire-rated?
This is the first decision, and usually the building's specification or Building Regulations will make it for you. Fire-rated panels are tested to BS EN 1634-1 and rated in minutes — 60, 90 or 120 — for how long they hold back fire; many are also tested from both sides (duplex) and available as riser doors. Where there's no fire requirement, a standard steel or plastic panel does the job. If you're unsure, check the building specification or your local Building Control (more on this in the FAQs below).
Standard sizes and made-to-measure
Most jobs are covered by our standard stock sizes (mm): 100×150, 150×150, 200×200, 230×150, 300×300, 350×350, 400×400, 450×450, 500×500, 550×550, 600×300, 600×600, 900×600 and 1200×600. Not every model comes in every size — the smallest (100×150) is plastic only to maximise the clear opening, and the largest are steel for rigidity. Anything outside this we manufacture made-to-measure.
A note on sizing: panels are measured by the door, and you should allow roughly 5mm clearance when fitting — so a 600×600 panel wants a structural opening of about 605×605mm. Each product page lists the exact sizes available.
Frame styles: picture or beaded
Two styles cover most installations. A picture frame sits on the surface, so the frame is visible — quick to fit into finished walls and ceilings. A beaded frame is designed to be plastered in, so only the door and a slim edge show, for a near-flush finish.
