When to go made-to-measure
If your opening is wider, longer or simply a different shape from the typical UK sizes (around 560mm wide × 640, 720 or 760mm), a made-to-measure hatch is the way to a neat, properly sealed result. It's common in older properties and refurbishments, or wherever the loft opening sits between standard joist spacings. You specify the structural opening size — length × width — so the hatch matches your joist layout exactly, with none of the fiddly adjustments a stock size would need.

Full performance, exact fit
A bespoke hatch keeps all the features that matter: an insulated lid, effective draught seals, and compatibility with your existing loft ladder or access system. In fact a precise fit makes those features work better — eliminating the gaps that let heat escape, so the finished hatch is more energy-efficient than a standard hatch squeezed into an awkward opening. Fire-rated versions are available where the location needs them.

How it's made, and lead times
Every made-to-measure hatch is hand-made to exacting standards in North Yorkshire, from 1mm Zintec steel powder-coated in White (RAL 9010, 20% gloss) — other colours are available at extra cost. You'll be asked to submit exact measurements before production begins, and you'll typically receive your hatch within 7–11 working days of ordering (Monday to Friday).
