Plasterboard Door

Plasterboard access panels are designed to sit flush within plasterboard (drywall) walls and ceilings, giving a neat, near-invisible access point to the pipework, cables and valves behind — without interrupting the surrounding surface. They're the go-to choice for finished interiors where appearance matters as much as access.

They're part of our wider access panel range.

What makes plasterboard panels different
Unlike a surface-mounted panel, a plasterboard access panel is built to disappear into the wall or ceiling. It combines a beaded metal frame with a plasterboard door that's skimmed and painted along with the surrounding surface — so once finished there are no visible edges or seams, just a clean, continuous face with hidden access behind it.

Where they're used
They're ideal wherever access to plumbing, electrical wiring or ductwork is needed within a plasterboard ceiling or wall and appearance matters — finished homes, offices and commercial interiors alike.

Sizes and finish
Standard stock sizes cover most openings, with free next-working-day delivery, and we manufacture made-to-measure plasterboard panels for non-standard openings — so you keep the same smooth, flush finish whatever the size.

Frequently asked questions

How do you open a plasterboard access panel?
Most use a budget lock as standard — a quick twist opens the door, and it's neatly finished with a bung cover so nothing shows on the face. Some models instead use spring-loaded catches that you simply press to release, giving easy maintenance access without marking the surrounding plasterboard.
Can plasterboard access panels be made to custom sizes?
Yes — alongside our standard stock sizes, we make plasterboard panels to measure for non-standard openings, so you get a perfect fit while keeping the same smooth, flush finish.
Are plasterboard access panels fire-rated?
Our standard plasterboard panels are non-fire-rated, designed for a flush finish rather than fire resistance. If the location needs to maintain a fire barrier, choose from our fire-rated range instead, where the required rating is stated on each product.
