Riser Doors

Riser doors give fire-rated access to the vertical service shafts — risers — that carry electrical, plumbing and HVAC services between floors in multi-storey buildings. They let engineers reach those services for maintenance while maintaining the fire compartmentation between floors.

Jupiter Blue riser doors are independently tested to BS EN 1634-1 for up to 120 minutes, from both sides (duplex), and sit within our wider access panel range.

What a riser door does
A riser is a vertical shaft that carries a building's services — electrical, plumbing, HVAC — up through the floors. A riser door is the access point into that shaft: a larger, specified door that lets engineers reach the services behind it while holding the fire compartmentation (and, where needed, the acoustic performance) between floors. In a multi-storey building that fire separation is critical, which is why riser doors are tested and specified rather than off-the-shelf.

Fire and acoustic performance
Our riser doors are fabricated from Zintec steel and independently tested to BS EN 1634-1, with fire resistance up to 120 minutes and duplex testing (both sides) so they perform whichever floor the fire starts on. The range also covers acoustic performance where a specification calls for it, and doors that integrate cleanly with the surrounding wall finish.

Where they're used, and lead times
You'll find riser doors in corridors, utility rooms and service shafts across commercial and public buildings. Most are made to order to the exact project requirements. Standard sizes can be with you in as little as 2 working days across most of the UK; made-to-measure riser doors typically take 7–10 working days, and the live lead time is shown on each product when you order.

Frequently asked questions

What fire rating do riser doors have?
Our riser doors are independently tested to BS EN 1634-1 and available with fire resistance up to 120 minutes (2 hours). Most are duplex — tested from both sides — so they hold their rating whichever floor a fire starts on. The tested rating is stated on each product.
Do riser doors provide acoustic performance too?
Yes, where the specification requires it. Alongside fire resistance, the range covers acoustic performance for risers passing through areas where sound insulation matters — check the individual product spec or ask our team for the right combination.
Can riser doors be made to a custom size?
Yes — most riser doors are made to order to the exact project requirements, so the door integrates cleanly into the building's design while meeting the required fire and acoustic standards.
What's the delivery time on riser doors?
A standard-size riser door can be delivered in as little as 2 working days across most UK postcodes. Made-to-measure riser doors typically take 7–10 working days — this can vary, and the current lead time is shown on each product when you place your order.
