The SDS is a precision-made, bespoke metal loft hatch providing certified Fire Rating, superior airtightness, and full compliance with Building Regulations Part L.
Fire Integrity & Thermal Performance:
• Fire Rating: Certified for a One-Way Fire Rating, providing essential safety and integrity to the ceiling compartmentation.• U Value & Compliance: The lid contains 50mm of exposed mineral wool insulation, achieving a U value of 0.32 W/m²K, fully complying with Part L of the Building Regulations.
• Airtightness: Features a concealed seal and a specialised locking system to achieve an incredible airtightness rating, critical for energy efficiency.
Bespoke Sizing & Installation Guidance:
• Custom Sizing: The hatch is made to your exact measurements, requiring the length and width of the loft opening (joist to joist) in mm, with a 5mm deduction for fitting tolerance.• Frame & Protrusion: The hatch frame depth is 63mm (up into the loft), and the finished panel has a minimal protrusion of 7mm from the ceiling, ensuring a subtle, clean aesthetic.
• Dual Lock Recommendation: For widths exceeding 750mm on the hinge side, two locks are recommended to ensure a secure, tight draught seal.
Construction & Locking:
• Construction: Fabricated from corrosion-resistant 1mm Zintec Steel. All hinges and fixings are concealed.• Standard Lock: Tri-drive lock featuring an O-ring seal on the shaft for ultimate airtightness. Optional Key lockable version also available.
• SDS-FR-OS: Please note this product comes with 2 x Tri-Drive Locks.

Once fitted the hatch will 'disappear' which is exactly the look my wife wanted. From my point of view it will give me easy access to the loft ladder which is exactly what I wanted. Thankyou Jupiter Blue.

Hi, I received my order today as I had arranged for a later delivery than your standard due to work commitments, this was ideal and I am glad that your courier offered this service. After opening the package and inspecting my purchase I have to say that I am more than impressed with the look of it, your website photo does not do the design justice. It took me 15 minutes to remove the old small loft hatch and trim and cut out the additional piece of ceiling to enlarge the opening. The supplied simple to follow instructions suggest that fitting is ideally a two person process but I found it quite simple. With a total of 35 minutes from start to finish, which included a quick hoover, I now have a great looking loft access hatch bespoke to my measurements, which means I no longer require the skills of a contortionist to access my loft and I can actually get things up there. I ordered this made to measure hatch for a customer. This hatch was delivered within 7 days very carefully packed. Fit and finish were perfect. Instructions suggest fitting is a 2 man job however I did it on my own in 30 minutes with 2 nails supporting one end and a clamp at the other. One tiny gripe, in this day an age could the manufacturer not supply recyclable packaging rather than polystyrene .

Got this about 6 months ago and have to say perfect piece of kit! Bit worried whether I had measured it correctly and its definitely a two man job, but once up it looks the part and works a treat.

On moving to a new house I found that the attic hatch was very much larger than standard. Really my only option was a made-to-measure one, which Jupiter Blue made perfectly. If I had any criticism of the product it would be that perhaps the insulation could have been covered with a membrane, but it's only a very minor point.
