Air tested Access Panels
Air-tested (airtight) access panels keep a wall or ceiling airtight while still giving access to the services behind it. They're specified for low-energy homes, Passivhaus construction and modern airtight buildings, where uncontrolled air leakage has to be kept to a minimum. Part of our wider access panel range.

Why airtightness matters
In an airtight building, every penetration in the wall or ceiling is a potential weak point in the air barrier — and a standard access panel would undo the work. An airtight access panel is engineered to minimise air leakage: it's tested for its airtight performance and sealed so it maintains the building's air barrier rather than compromising it. That keeps energy performance and comfort where the design intended, and helps meet the building's airtightness requirements.
How they're built
Our airtight panels are made from Zintec steel with a continuous gasket that forms a tight seal all the way around the door. They fit flush with the surrounding surface for a seamless finish, so the seal is unbroken and the panel all but disappears into the wall or ceiling.
Better energy efficiency
By sealing the opening properly, an airtight panel stops conditioned air escaping and unconditioned air getting in — so your heating, ventilation and air-conditioning don't have to work as hard. The result is better energy efficiency and lower running costs, which is why they're used in controlled environments like clean rooms, laboratories and operating theatres, as well as energy-conscious homes.
Made to measure
Where a standard size won't fit, we make airtight access panels to measure for your exact opening — including fire-rated, insulated and air-tested combinations. Custom sizes take a little longer: typically 7–14 working days to most UK postcodes.
