Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) Smoke Vent with offset actuator for Access

AOV Smoke Vent comprising PVC kerb with a polycarbonate dome. AOV smoke vents with offset acuators combine smoke ventilation with access. All AOVs are designed to automatically extract smoke in the event of a fire. Typically sited on flat roofs above corridors and stairwells the vents open to an angle of 140 degrees in less than 60 seconds. The range is fully tested and certified in accordance with BS EN 12101-2. Covering standards for safety, security, non-fragility and fire safety with the full guarantee of an established, accredited UK manufacturer.
Fully certified to approved document B.

Kerb options to suit your own upstand or fitting directly onto your roof deck

100mm DF (Direct Fix) kerb - fits to an existing upstand

100mm DF kerb
Standard Actuator positioning is as shown above (left side adjacent to the hinge). If needed we can mount the actuator on the right side adjacent to the hinge (please request this at the time of placing your order). AOVs can be fitted on flat roofs with a pitch of up to 15°. The hinge side needs to be facing up the slope, please ensure you take this into consideration.

Free Area explanation for AOV Smoke Vent with PVC kerb

The size of the vent (at the smallest point) minus the area of any obstructions such as motors, ladders or grilles – how well air travels through a vent for natural ventilation:

Image showing how the free area of an AOV is measured
Coefficient of Discharge (Cv) – a value to quantify the efficiency of a smoke vent. This is calculated by a third party.

Aerodynamic Free Area

The Smoke vent size is multiplied by the Coefficient of Discharge – overall performance of the vent. This is the most important, as it is the most accurate way to quantify the performance of the smoke vent. It is used in EN12101-2, BSI & UKCA certification and also stated on NBS specs.

Control Panel

It is recommended that Mardome Smoke Vents are connected to the Smoke Vent control panel available from us. The control panel is designed to be used with the actuator of the Mardome Smoke Vent and provides a battery backup and additional line monitoring functionality. A Mardome Smoke Vent can be installed alongside other EN12101-10 compliant control systems but we cannot provide technical support concerning the control of the product and do not keep a list of compatible control systems. Installing with an alternative EN12101-10 control system will not affect the guarantee of the product. View control panel information here.
