Coxdome's Smoke and Heat Exhaust Ventilation (SHEV) systems—also known as Automatic Opening Vents (AOVs)—are critical components in fire safety design. In the event of a fire, they automatically vent smoke and hot gases to maintain clear evacuation routes and improve firefighter visibility.
Smoke inhalation, not heat, is the biggest danger in building fires. Without proper ventilation, smoke rapidly fills spaces, reducing visibility, blocking exits, and increasing the risk of flashover—a sudden, intense fire spread. Coxdome SHEV (AOV) systems help prevent this.
