F1 in Schools – Supporting Wetherby High School
F1 in schools is an initiative which is designed to help change the perceptions of science, technology, engineering and maths. The idea is to create a fun, fast paced learning environment for young people between the ages of 9-19 to get a taste of what careers in engineering, Formula One, Science, Marketing and Technology have to offer. The initiative involves students designing, building and racing their own scale model cars in a series of rounds which culminates in a national championship, held at Silverstone.
We were delighted to learn that a group of students from Wetherby High School (our local High School) will be entering their car “Fury” in the 2019 national championships at Silverstone, in March 2019. This is a huge achievement and builds on their considerable success from 2018 which saw the team achieve ‘Fastest regional car’ and ‘best engineered car’ endorsed by Jaguar.
As with Formula One teams, the Wetherby High School team are continually monitoring and assessing their car in an attempt to make it more competitive. We are pleased to pledge our financial support to help the team fulfil this goal.
We wish you and Fury all the best.
